Our periodontal team specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of periodontal disease (gum disease), correction of treatment of gum recession, and insertion of dental implant fixtures. Periodontal health is critical not only for you to maintain your teeth but allow for good chewing function. Non-surgical and surgical treatments are incorporated to meet individual needs of our patients. There are many benefits to safeguarding your periodontal health. Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease or pyorrhea, is an infection of the tissue (gums, bone, and ligaments) that support and surround your teeth. If left untreated, periodontal disease can cause swelling and/or pain of the gums, bleeding, eventual tooth loss, and degeneration of the jaw bone that once supported the teeth.
The goal of periodontal therapy is to re-establish good periodontal health. By retaining your natural teeth, you can chew more comfortably and experience better digestion. You also keep a beautiful, healthy smile. When your efforts are combined with regular visits to your dentist and periodontist, you will have an excellent chance of keeping your teeth for a lifetime.
Our various smile-enhancing services will enable you to achieve optimal oral health and improved general health. Current research shows that periodontal infections lead to increased heart, lung, and kidney problems. Long term optimum dental health is our goal for you.
